Toyota Corolla (2022): new technologies at the rendezvous

For many years, the Toyota Corolla is on the first step of the podium of the best-selling cars in the world, with more than 1.13 million copies sold last year, out of more than 50 million units in total since 1966. Launched in 2018, the latest generation of the Japanese compact, the twelfth already, is getting up to date again for the year 2022: while the traditional mid-career restyling is not yet a question, a few new features are appearing on the model, available in 5-door sedan and Touring Sports station wagon.

The Toyota Corolla 2022 indeed sees its color chart enriched with two new colors : Pearly Lunar White and Mineral Gray, which are also available in two-tone bodywork with a contrasting roof on the top-of-the-range, GR Sport and Collection finishes. But the most important update is its infotainment system, which benefits from a whole new generation called Toyota Smart Connect, available as standard from the second trim level: Dynamic.

Toyota Smart Connect: a new generation of infotainment system

This new multimedia system has a more powerful processor, which promises operation 2.4 times faster than the previous opus, and is equipped with a 8 inch touch screen high definition, which can be found in the center of the dashboard. With its on-board data communication module (DCM), it provides access to connected services

, such as real-time GPS navigation, traffic information, weather forecast, or remote software updates.

The Toyota Smart Connect system is equipped with a USB type C socket on the dashboard, and is compatible Apple CarPlay (wireless) and Android Auto (wired). A new voice assistant makes it possible to interact with the car, to control the multimedia player, navigation or even phone calls. As an option, the “Toyota Smart Connect Plus” provides access to 3D GPS navigation, with road signs and warning of danger zones.

Orders for the new Toyota Corolla 2022 range are already open, at entry-level prices from 28,700 euros (+ 1,000 euros for the Touring Sports station wagon version). This price includes access to the connected services of the Toyota Smart Connect system for 4 years, while the first deliveries are expected for February 2022 in France.
