The small American manufacturer Equus Automotive is back with a new vintage car, this time with a Scout e-Concept electric 4×4.
In 2014, Equus Automotive created a vintage, big V8-powered Ford Mustang, the Bass 770. 2018 was a throwback retro exercise on a Corvette base. This small manufacturer from Detroit returns with a new car, neither a coupe nor thermal.
For its third creation, Equus is in the large SUV and electric. Calm down, retro design is always in order, inspired by the Bass 770, from which it takes its front face. Finally, it’s a bit like the Ford Mustang Mach-E if it was born 50 years ago! For the rest, the Scout e-Concept draws from the 4×4 and pickup of the 1970s : Chevrolet Blazer, Ford F-100 or even Jeep Wagoneer. Subtlety, he proposes two 3 and 5 door bodies, 4.57 and 4.78 meters long.
On the other hand, we forget the frail aspect of a collection model. The SUV is very massive here, and modernity invites itself via the LED optics, rims or carbon fiber bodywork. Inside, the vintage transpires less, although the Scout draws on various models of yesteryear. 1960s muscle car counters and horizontal plank contrast with the touch screen and steering wheel very much of our time. Elsewhere, the brown seats and inner doors mimic the rectilinear spirit of the 1970s.
For its propulsion system, the Equus Scout e-Concept does not hesitate between past and present. It is 100% electric and does not skimp on performance. The SUV incorporates 4 engines, enough to send more than 750 hp and 1,100 Nm. With its all-wheel drive, it would achieve 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds and promises 200 km/h at maximum speed.
Like the bodywork, the brand gives the choice for batteries. Five capacities are available, between 105 and 190 kWh, i.e. 400 to 640 kilometers of range. The Scout E-Concept will give its prices and its volume of production in 2023, at the dawn of its production.
Until then, Equus Automotive will not rest. The Scout will accompany a line of 4 new models: redesigned Throwback, large SUV Stallion, new Bass 770 and a mysterious “X” project.
