From now on, since May 1, 2022, all new cars circulating in Europe must be equipped with a black box. The device will allow the driving parameters to be recorded a few seconds before an accident.
We knew the radars or even the police checks. But now, it is directly your car that will transmit information to the police. Or almost…
The black boxes are now mandatory items that will be an integral part of new vehicles. But the latter do not communicate directly with the Police… We explain!
Since 1st 2022these small devices concealed in new vehicles will allow law enforcement but also to insurers to better understand what happened during an accident or a collision.
In the manner of black boxes found in airplanes, the latter will record the 30 seconds before a shock. Among the elements memorized by the unit, we find the vitesse, the acceleration phase or of braking, le seat belt wearingthe GPS coordinates, the force of the collision or even the engine speed.
Obviously, the aim is to improve the road safety record and shed light on accidents. But what about personal freedoms? If we are even tracked in our car…!
Unlike devices that are installed in airplanes, black boxes will not record cabin conversationswhile they collect everything that is said in the cockpit of an airplane.
And all the data collected by the device will not be transmitted outside via any system (GPS, 4G, 5G or other). So don’t panic, the argument of deprivation of our liberty is therefore not valid at this time. But that is not enough to calm the user associations, who are also alarmed data processing. We are entitled to wonder how the police will be able to access this data and whether it will be kept.
Several questions therefore arise at the present time. One thing is certain, motorists have no not finished losing their free will at the wheel!
