If there was still a short time, the famous automotive spy photographers allowed us to discover in all indiscretion behind the scenes of the development of future cars, times have changed.

Indeed, it is now the manufacturers who broadcast the images of their test prototypes themselves, still heavily camouflaged: what better to control their communication on models so awaited by the public. This is the case of the Munich manufacturer, which has just unveiled a series of numerous photos of the future BMW M2a few months before its world premiere.

BMW M2 (2023): already put to the test on the circuit

The new generation of BMW 2 Series will soon be available with a sporty M2 version : it is currently in the final phase of testing, as part of its development. The Bavarian firm subjected it to intensive tests, on the circuit du Salzburgringin Austria: enough to put its driving dynamics and chassis to the test.

If BMW does not give more details about its technical characteristics, it does however specify that the new BMW M2 will offer a “similar level of performance” to that of the BMW M2 CS. Under the hood, we will indeed find a engine taken from the BMW M3 and M4while the behavior will be customizable thanks to multiple driving modes.

BMW M2 (2023): ultralight materials

Two types of transmission will be available: a manual gearbox 6-speed, as well as a Automatic box 8-speed M Steptronic, available as an option. To enhance its sporty behavior, the new M2 will have an adaptive M suspension and, of course, rear-wheel drive. The braking system is borrowed from the M3 and M4.

Different equipment will allow you to customize the look of your M2, while reducing the weight on the scale: for example, a carbon roof will be available, while an option carbon M bucket seats will be offered inside, for the driver and front passenger.

BMW M2 (2023): presentation in October 2022

The new BMW M2 will soon be unveiled: the world premiere presentation is scheduled for October 2022for a marketing in April 2023.

This sporty version of the new BMW 2 Series will be unveiled as part of the 50^th anniversary of BMW M, the sports division of the Bavarian manufacturer, with many events planned throughout this year.
