This is a new phenomenon that is gaining momentum: many rental sports cars travel through the cities of France. This is why they are registered in Poland.
In recent years, many rental cars from Poland have been giving law enforcement a hard time. It is often powerful German sports cars: Audi, Mercedes-AMG and other Porsches, which are rented by young racing car enthusiasts to blaze in the cities.
Their common point? They are mostly registered in Poland, which raises the question of their origin. This relatively new phenomenon is gradually spreading throughout France, after having conquered the Paris region. We explain why these rental sports cars are registered in Poland!
These cars are rented by the day, for the weekend or by the week, mainly by young people from housing estates, who lend them to impress the girls and their friends. They are also found in certain wedding processions, which often degenerate into urban rodeos.
To rent them is on social networks that happens, for about 300 to 3,000 € per day depending on the model, and several thousand euros for a weekend. Behind these obscure accounts, it is difficult to identify those responsible, according to France 3 which followed an investigation by the Departmental Security of Bouches-du-Rhône:
#Marseille He rented high-capacity vehicles registered abroad, in particular to enthusiasts of #urbanrodeos 😠😠😠👉 The 8 🚗 of this “renter” devoid of seriousness and professionalism were impounded by the 👮 of the Departmental Security @PoliceNat13 pic.twitter.com/gI8Hs2zWB8

If the exact origin of these vehicles is unclear, strong suspicions hang over their illegality : the sparkling sports could be linked to cases of trafficking or laundering of dirty money. They would be acquired in LLD for a pittance in Poland by front companies, which pay the first monthly payments before disappearing by taking the cars.
These are then sent to France, where they can feed these rental “businesses” for some time, before the Polish justice system manages to have them seized. Very often, the cars are not insured, which poses real problems in the event of an accident, and there are many of them because inexperienced drivers of these vehicles take great risks behind the wheel.

With Polish license plates, it is also impossible to trace the authors of the offenses committed while driving these rental sports cars, nor to seize them: a means ofescape punishmentwhen violations of the Highway Code are detected without interception, by an automatic speed camera for example.
For law enforcement, it is particularly difficult to regulate this phenomenonbecause car rental is not an illegal activity, and the European Union guarantees the free movement of vehicles and goods from Poland.
