This incredible Honda concept is the work of a French designer

In a concept never before seen, designer Alexis Poncelet delivers his vision of a model mixing automotive and even computer influences: the Honda HR-X Delsol.

Car manufacturers’ concept cars are sometimes very close to the series, but also sometimes surprising. This is even more the case when they are digital artists who are at work and who are able to create virtual renders whose only limit is their own imagination. We have already been able to discover a pick-up version of the BMW X2 or even a BMW 4 Series Shooting Brake concept.

Mix of genres

Now it’s the designer Alexis Poncelet officiating at the Chinese manufacturer GAC which offers a new virtual rendering for the Honda brand. For this model he named HR-X of the Sun, we can say that the creator has mixed many influences. At first automotive, with lines that are mainly inspired by the Honda e-Drag. Presented last year, this concept is actually based on the small electric Honda e, but it has been completely geared towards performance to offer dragster sensations.

Besides this inspiration from the Honda e-Drag, designer Alexis Poncelet was also inspired by the Honda CR-X del Sol which mainly gives its name to this model. The Honda CR-X del Sol is a small two-seater roadster that appeared in the early 90s. Its particularity is to have a removable targa roof which is housed in the upper part of the boot.

2 times 3 seats

Finally, Alexis Poncelet was also inspired byanother Honda model: FR-V. As a reminder, this compact minivan dating from the beginning of our century featured an amazing seating arrangement with three seats in the front and three seats in the back. Exactly like the famous Fiat Multipla, yes!

So much for the automotive inspiration, but the designer has obviously taken the liberty of adding certain elements imagined by himself, like the huge rims with futuristic all-terrain tires that seem ready for the end of the world. According to Alexis Poncelet, the model constitutes “a new segment that differentiates the brand even more”.

Graphics Card Inspiration

The designer of this concept was therefore not content to be inspired by the automobile since he also drew his inspiration from the IT industry, surprisingly. This can be felt in particular with the front face of which the grille seems very close to a hard disk or a USB key. But where this computer inspiration is most strongly felt, it is obviously on the rear part which embeds 3 huge graphics cards with cooling.
