After the success of the Taycan, Porsche is preparing to complete its range with the arrival of a 100% electric Panamera.
It was in 2019 that Porsche launched its first 100% electric model, the Taycan, with an impressive commercial performance. Indeed, in 2021, Porsche sold more than 300,000 vehicles, including no less than 41,296 copies of the Taycan: the electric sedan has thus become more popular than the 911 in the Porsche range.
This year, 18,900 copies of the Taycan have already been sold in the first half of 2022. To continue on this path to success, Porsche does not intend to stop there and is preparing a new generation of the Porsche Panamerathis time with a 100% electric motor.
Porsche is accelerating on its transformation, and expects that more than 50% of its sales by 2025 will be made up of electrified vehicles, either hybrid or 100% electric. From here 2030, 80% of sales of new Porsche vehicles should be 100% electric.
To achieve this goal, the Stuttgart manufacturer should soon launch several new 100% electric modelsincluding a new generation of its successful SUV, the Macanwhich is the brand’s second bestseller.

According to the latest rumors, this new generation of electric Porsche Panamera should not arrive before the second generation of Porsche Taycan: in fact, both models will be based on the new plateforme SSP (Scalable Systems Platform)of the Volkswagen group, intended for electric vehicles.
This new platform will be launched at Porsche in 2027, and the German manufacturer is already working on this SSP platform in order to adapt it to the models of its brand, to offer them more performance by lowering their center of gravity. They will also be equipped with an 800 V system, which will guarantee faster and more efficient recharges.

Thus, the future electric Porsche Panamera should land on the market by 2027, and should offer larger dimensions than the current model, with an increased wheelbase.
This new Panamera would then compete with large 100% electric luxury sedans, such as the Mercedes EQS or the Lucid Air. Other players, such as the Chinese BYD, are also expected in this segment, and will therefore be among the new competitors that Porsche will find on its way by the end of the decade.
