DS Automobiles is taking advantage of the opening of Paris Fashion Week to unveil the new restyled DS 3, which like the larger DS 7, abandons the name “Crossback” on this occasion. Launched in 2018, the small urban SUV is getting a mid-career restyling, which is mainly recognizable by its redesigned front end.

The restyled DS 3 indeed reviews its chrome grille DS Wings, to make it a little less ostentatious : the chrome “wings” extending under the headlights have been removed and replaced by a small, more discreet insert. The grille with chrome facets receives a more subtle bead, while new DS Matrix LED Vision headlights make their appearance, complemented by new vertical LED daytime running lights.

DS 3 restyled: new customization possibilities

At the rear, few changes except for the arrival of a new shiny black strip, which replaces the chrome strip connecting the two taillights: this one is covered with a “DS Automobiles” lettering instead and place of the previous mention “Crossback”. Inside, no great revolution except the appearance of new leather and fabric upholsteryas well as a new infotainment system with a 10.3 inch touch screen.

The restyled DS 3 is also distinguished by the arrival of new personalization possibilities, such as its two brand new shades “Red Diva” and “Lacquered Gray”. Of new 17 and 18 inch rims, with a more aerodynamic design, are also appearing, not to mention a new bonnet badge with the “Clous de Paris” motif. The Performance Line version is equipped with a “black pack”, which changes the acronyms and chrome inserts to shiny black.

DS 3 restyled: new under the hood

Under the bonnet, the 155-hp 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine disappears, but its 100 and 130-hp versions are still offered in the catalog, as is the 130-hp 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel engine.

The major novelty concerns the 100% electric version, called DS 3 E-Tense: this now develops 156 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque, or 20 additional horsepower compared to the first opus, with a 400-volt architecture. The new 54 kWh battery (50.8 useful kWh) offers 402 kilometers of autonomy according to the WLTP combined cycle, and more than 500 km in the city. It can be charged in about 25 minutes with the on-board 100 kW DC charger, or in 5 hours with the 11 kW AC charger.
