This Chevrolet Corvette C7 broke a rather unusual world speed record, since it reached the speed of 87 km/h in reverse!
Scott Burner is an American from Nashville, Tennessee. He has a rather incredible hobby, since he tests the Maximum speed of each of the cars that pass through his hands… Backwards ! He also publishes videos of his exploits on his YouTube channel, called “Always In Reverse” (“Always upside down” in English).
This time around, he got behind the wheel of an all-stock Chevrolet Corvette C7, then reversed a mile (about 1.61 km) in a record time of 1 minute and 15.18 secondsbeating the previous record of 1 minute and 37.02 seconds, set aboard a Nissan Leaf.
If the video above shows Scott Burner performing this exercise on a country road, he went to Kentucky, to Bowling Green more precisely where the National Corvette Museum is located, in order to have his record by the prestigious book Guinness World Records.
If he was disappointed enough with the Tesla Model 3’s top speed of 27 km/h in reverse, this time he was able to reach the maximum speed of 87 km/h (54 mph) in reverse with this Chevrolet Corvette C7, with an average speed of 77 km/h during this exercise.

Our record holder is not a novice in this field, since he has been practicing his art for more than 20 years! His method for driving in reverse, however, is rather classic: “I turn around with my right hand on the passenger seat, put my left hand on the steering wheel and look out the rear window”he told the television channel Fox News.
