Volkswagen ID.Buzz: a 300 hp GTX version approaching?

Volkswagen confirms it, its ID. Buzz 100% electric will have its “GTX” version! With a motor on each axle, the total power should reach 299 hp, just like the ID.4 and the ID. 5 GTX.

Chez Volkswagenthey waste no time with their new 100% electric combi! Unveiled at the beginning of the year, l’ID.Buzz finally arrives on our roads by the end of the year. And the German firm already confirms that a version « GTX » will be honoured.

A version of 299 hp confirmed

It was during a presentation that the “utility” division of Volkswagen released several fairly clear images as to the future versions of the model. On these shots, we can then see a normal ID.Buzz with a line on the back drawing a silhouette of an elongated version.

Volkswagen showed a picture of the steering wheel bearing the label GTX. At the same time, the photo of the elongated version is marked “AWD – All Wheel Drive” (4 wheels driving).

Just like theID.4 and theID.5, Volkswagen’s electric combi will be entitled to an “ultimate” version with even more power. On its two SUVs, the manufacturer launched the GTX versions several months after the production versions. As a reminder, if we take a ID.5 for example, the “Pro” version has 174 hp (128 kW), followed by the “Pro Performance” version with 204 hp (150 kW) and finally the “GTX” version. The latter has the dual motor, with an electric block on each axle: at the rear the power is 204 hp (150 kW) and 109 hp (80 kW) at the front. In total, the cumulative power amounts to 299 ch. And the Buzz should enjoy the same version GTX with the same level of power and 460 Nm of torque!

With its 111 kWh battery, the ID.Buzz GTX could then approach 600 km of autonomy according to the WLTP cycle.

A long version also planned

In the photos, the overhangs look exactly the same. we can conclude that it is the wheelbase that will be lengthened. A second image clearly indicates that this addition of space is dedicated to a third rowincreasing the ability to 7 places.

Currently, the Volkswagen ID.Buzz displays a total length of 4.71 meters for a wheelbase of 2.99 meters. In order to accommodate the additional row, the electric van would then have to be well over 5 meters long. Lying thus, the batteries could also grow and go from 77 kWh to 111 kWh on the ID.Buzz Long.
