Seat: one million SUVs sold

In the space of six years, the range of Seat SUVs has sold more than a million copies!

More than ever, SUVs are popular by motorists: last year alone, they accounted for 46% of car registrations in Europe, i.e. 5 points more than in 2020.

Despite some detractors, the attractiveness of SUVs is strong, and customers appreciate the elevated driving position, which gives them a feeling of security, while the generous interior volume is particularly appealing to families.

Seat: nearly one in two sales is an SUV

The Spanish manufacturer is also riding on the success of its range of SUVs, made up of three models, which in 2022 crossed the bar of million units soldjust six years after the brand’s first SUV, the Seat Ateca.

In detail, last year, the Arona, Ateca and Tarraco accounted for 49% of Seat’s global sales, with 192,100 copies. The brand’s customers appreciate their design, versatility and sporty behavior.

Seat: the Arona remains the brand’s best seller

The Seat Arona is the millionth SUV sold by the Spanish firm. Since its launch in 2017, Seat’s urban SUV has become the brand’s best-selling car, with 481,585 units sold worldwide.

Produced in the factory in Martorell, Spain, the model is a real success in its domestic market: it is the best-selling model in Spain in 2021, all categories combined, and it is the first time that an SUV ranks first in this market. To date, the Seat Arona has sold nearly 98,000 copies in Spain.

Seat: the Ateca and Tarraco still please as much

The brand’s second best-selling SUV is the Seat Ateca, which is the very first SUV in Seat’s history. To date, the compact SUV has sold 435,443 copies. It is particularly popular in Germany, which represents more than 108,000 models sold, or nearly a quarter of global sales.

Finally, Seat’s SUV range also includes the Seat Tarraco, marketed in 2018. To date, the large SUV has sold 88,820 units worldwide. It has the particularity of bearing a name chosen by a vote in which more than 140,000 people participated, and like the Ateca, it is particularly popular in Germany, its main market with 29,000 units sold, or 20% of its sales.
