Honda: new driver assistance technologies

Honda is introducing the next generation of its driver assistance technologies, dubbed “Honda Sensing 360” and “Honda Sensing Elite”.

The Japanese manufacturer is developing its safety systems and driver assistance technologies, grouped under the label Honda Sensing : while this system is already fitted to all of the brand’s new models currently on the market, Honda has advanced its technologies to go even further in driving safety, with the aim of reducing by half the number of fatal accidents involving vehicles of its brand by 2030.

The Japanese firm has just unveiled the new generation technologies of Honda Sensing 360, which will equip the brand’s models. from 2024but also those of Honda Sensing Elite, which take advantage of artificial intelligence technologies and which we will see land by the second half of the decade.

Honda Sensing 360: new advanced driving aids

In addition to the current technologies of Honda Sensing 360which help the driver to avoid collisions, Honda will add new technologies to help accurately detect abnormal conditions affecting the driver and his environment, such as health problems or human error.

For example, the lane keeping system will allow operation even if the driver takes their hands off the steering wheel. By extension, the vehicle will also be able to change lanes without user intervention. When the car is parked in parallel, a new system detects the approach of other road users, and lights up an indicator light to dissuade users from opening a door, for example.

Honda: technologies for everyone’s safety

If the driver no longer responds to the vehicle’s commands, in the event of illness for example, the system accompanies the slowing down and immobilization of the car in the emergency lane.

Other systems make it possible to understand the behavior and the state of health of the driver, but also toavoid any risk of frontal collision with other road users: a driver attention alert and collision alert system, a system to avoid frontal collisions, or an assistance system for maneuvers to avoid emergency.

Honda Sensing Elite: artificial intelligence technologies

To go further, the advanced systems called Honda Sensing Elite use artificial intelligence to understand the most complex situations that can arise when driving on the road. For example, the system is able to assist the driver on any type of road, even off motorways where traffic conditions are theoretically simpler.

An automatic parking assistance system also makes it possible to automatically park a car in a garage, or even have it exit automatically, with the simple press of a button. In the future, Honda aims to transform its cars into a autonomous valetwhich will allow customers to automatically return their vehicle no matter where they are parked.
