Belonging to the Great Wall Motors group, the Chinese sedan Ora Funky Cat is the first electric model from the manufacturer to be introduced in Europe.
The car brand Ora, which belongs to the Chinese group Great Wall, will launch a new compact electric vehicle in early 2023 with a false air of Fiat 500e. Here’Ora Funky Cat !
Round shapes and a nice face!
During the last Paris Motor Show which took place at Paris Porte de Versailles last October, we had already seen several models of Chinese brands, come to compete with European models. On the Ora stand, the small compact Funky Cat was already present, determined to find a place among the historical models well established on the Old Continent!
The compact challenges, in a good way. Because to seduce this European clientele, the designers have chosen a very “joyful” and charming look, like a Mini or a Beetle for example. With its round headlights and curved lines, the Funky Cat is really successful. This aspect chic and shock is also found inside, with fairly qualitative materials to the eye, and a massive use of shiny aluminum. Tinsel? Not really ! The finishes are good for this price level and the whole is really flattering. No doubt, this compact has the arguments to sell…
What about the dimensions? With nearly 4.24 m. long, 1.82 m. wide and 1.60 m. high, the Chinese is quite close to a Volkswagen ID.3 or a Fiat 500e. Finally, the Ora Funky Cat also brings equipment details that are not usually found at this price level. The car has air-conditioned massaging seats, for example, or an infotainment system with a permanent online connection via a separate SIM card.
Attractive technical characteristics
If the small Chinese compact has an attractive physique, what it conceals under the hood is also interesting for its category! The Ora Funky Cat moves in fact thanks to a 126 kW permanently excited synchronous motor, i.e. 171 horsepower. The group draws its energy, at choice, from a battery of 48 kWh or another beefier one 63 kWh. With the larger of the two batteries, the 100 km/h mark is reached in 8.2 seconds. The maximum speed is restricted to 160 km/h.
With the first, the autonomy is 310 kilometers in the WLTP cycle while the largest allows to reach 420 kilometers with an average electricity consumption of 16.6 kWh. Fast charging (DC) is 80 kW maximum, which allows you to fill 15 to 80% of the battery in 42 minutes according to the Chinese manufacturer. The market launch price in France, scheduled for early 2023, is expected to be around 36 000 euros !
