The owner of a Worcestershire petrol station was surprised to receive a visit from a military tank. He was coming to refuel!
The inhabitants of Bromsgrove, in Worcestershire (in the center of England), were surprised to see a tank going to refuel at the local petrol station. Before you ask, no, this is absolutely not a tank-like vehicle. But a real model straight out of the british army stock. Only, do not panic, the war did not break out on British soil: it is only a local photographer, who also has the strange passion of walking around in tanks a few times.
This photographer is called Paul Donovan. And to tell the truth, it is very likely that the only surprised by the appearance of the tank are the tourists or the new inhabitants of Bromsgrove. Because Paul Donovan is actually known to have been the proud owner of several tanks since 1993. At the time, it was local newspapers, like the Bromsgrove Advertiser, who started talking about him. Thereby, his penchant for tanks is no longer entirely unknown to the inhabitants of this small town of 29,000 inhabitants.

Paul Donovan arrived unannounced at one of Bromsgrove’s petrol stations with his tank, a Saber he bought from the British Army in 2012. The Saber is a type of « Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance » (a CVRT), i.e. an armored commonly used by the British Army. And despite the technicality of this vehicle and its rarity on the market, it did not cost him very much. He indeed negotiated it at for a price of about 17 000 euros. With still a small idea behind the head: to restore it completely!
This CVRT is certainly not in its infancy. He entered serving in the British Army from 1994. It served its country with dignity, until 2004, when it was finally put aside, certainly in favor of more recent models and in better condition. For some unknown reason, it then landed in the hands of Paul Donovan!

Paul Donovan is not at his first tank. To date, he has already owned a total of quatre tanks ! A collection he has been collecting since 1993. This year, he discovers that it is possible and completely legal to drive a tank on the road. He then began to develop an unusual hobby: taking over military vehicles in order to restore them. In short, a tank tuner or restomoder.
Today 66 years old and retired, this professional photographer has become something of a local celebrity. Nevertheless, it must be recognized that his hobby is not the most economical. In addition to the price of buying and restoring tanks, it is also necessary to add the cost of refueling. However, this amounts to almost 700 euros per tank!
