With 33% market share, the Stellantis group currently dominates sales of new cars in France. Cock-a-doodle Doo !
The Peugeot 3008 was the best-selling SUV in France. Its success was such that Peugeot had difficulty keeping up with the production rate. Suffice to say that the second-hand market is full of this model. We are exclusively interested in… https://t.co/RHk7c6N5GW

We can’t really say that the car market has been doing well for some time. And truth be told, this trend has been going on for more than two years now, as the tumble started with the health crisis and the Covid-19 epidemic in 2020. Since then, car sales have been plummeting and struggling. to go up, despite the end of various and varied measures in most countries of the world. In 2022, registrations have indeed down 7.8% since January according to figures from the PFA (Plateforme Automobile), with only 1,529,035 cars sold over this period. In 2019, more than 2.2 million vehicles were sold in France.

But we can say that some models have really pulled out of the game during this difficult period. Among them, the Peugeot 208, which remains the best-selling car of the year with 88,812 units registered since January, then occupying 5.5% of the market. The city car is followed by the Dacia Sandero and the Renault Clio, its lifelong rival. The Citroën C3 arrives in 4th position, closely followed by the Peugeot 2008, the territory’s best-selling SUV for the whole of last year. In electric, it is the Dacia Spring which comes in 1st place.

While all manufacturers are affected by the drop in sales, some are more so than others. This is particularly the case of Citroën, which lost 19% or even Jeep, whose sales fell by 45.2%. For its part, the Renault group shows a 9.9% decline, while Toyota climbs by 2.1%. Nevertheless, and despite a fall of 17.1%, the Franco-Italian group Stellar, born from the merger of PSA and FCA is doing quite well. And for good reason, it occupies no less than 33% of market share, far ahead of Renault with its 25.1%. A fine performance for the firm headed by Carlos Tavares, which remains at the top for the time being.
