As we know, 2022 will not have been a good year for new car sales. Indeed, these fell by 7.83% in France over the whole of the last twelve months, from January to December. A difficult situation, when 2021 was already not really glorious. A significant fall which then follows the health crisis and theCovid-19 outbreak, as factories idled and dealerships had to close. Not to mention the many difficulties experienced by the automotive industry with the shortage of semiconductors, among others. In short, 2022 will not have made gifts to anyone, even if all the manufacturers have not been housed in the same boat.

Indeed, if some brands have still managed to pull out of the game, such as Alpine or Dacia, others have however suffered a great tumble. The worst being at Ssangyong, which sold only 18 cars in France last year, a drop of 81.25% in registrations compared to 2021. The firm is followed by Subaru with 28 sales (– 58.20 %). Seat is doing a little better, from the top of its 13,684 registrations, but still shows a fall of 48.72%. Finally, it’s Jeep which is in 4th position, with a sharp drop of 47.08% and only 5,727 copies sold.

On the other hand, other brands have managed to fare better over the past year. This is particularly the case ofAlpine, which sold 32% more than in 2021, with 2,138 vehicles sold. Maserati also recorded good figures, with sales up 37.2%, or 214 cars registered. But the prize goes to Alfa Romeo, which has climbed 99.4% and which has sold 3,097 cars in the territory since January. A turnaround that we undoubtedly owe to the new SUV compact Tonalewhich is beginning to attract customers.
