2022 was a good year for speed cameras in France. A brief overview of the latest figures published, before some changes in 2023.
The year 2023 just started, so it’s the perfect time to train un bilan of 2022, whatever the domain.
It’s the case radars. If in 2023 we should see a lot of changesthe year 2022 was auspicious to violations. Let’s look in more detail published figures.
Installed on secure routes or on low speed areas, they make a box. Indeed, the 280 site radars in service in 2021 crackled 3,9 millions of times. 2023 should continue on this momentumespecially since there will be nearly 600 by the end of the year.
They have beautiful remains the old ones “gray boxes”. Well aided by their ability to flasher in both directions circulationthey resist at the time (less to vandalism), but are done rares. In France, there are only about 900 survivors.
Is it because they are very recognizable and/or because some are used in mode “lure” ? In any case, the turret radars are disappointing. Nevertheless ultra-sophisticatedthey did not panic the counters in 2022.
Soon replaced by multi-section radars, average speed radars still make big damage. More, even, than in past years, with an efficiency multiplied by 2.5 compared to 2020.
Discriminating radars have not yet revealed their full potential. Latest releasesdouble-sided, with flash invisible and speed control by 3D lidar, should make to climb their stats skyrocketed.
