The lack of electric charging stations in the territory is often a matter of concern for owners of electric vehicles, especially when it comes to planning long journeys. To make their life easier, the French manufacturer has imagined Plug Inna news community app available for both Apple iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play) smartphone users.

With Plug Inn, Renault invites owners of electric cars and plug-in hybrids to join this new community, which connects owners of private charging stations and passing motorists. The Plug Inn community aims to become a “smart” complement to the network of public charging stations, to compensate for the lack of charging points available in France.

Renault Plug Inn: a new community application

With the Plug Inn application, owners of private charging stations, installed for example in their homes, can offer owners of electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles the opportunity to come and recharge at their charging stationwhile monetizing its use.

Open to all, whether or not you are a customer of a Renault vehicle, the application allows you to locate and reserve charging stations available from owners, with a wide variety of technical characteristics (powers of 3.7 kW, 7.4 kW , 11kW…). Renault aims to develop this community and make this service available to as many people as possible.

Plug Inn embodies Renault’s vision in the development of the electric vehicle: it is indeed a different way of thinking about electric mobility, with a community aspect that promotes interaction between French owners of an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle. This application is complementary to the network of public charging stations, and will be particularly useful when leaving for the weekend or on vacation.

Renault Plug Inn: how does it work?

For the owner of a private terminal or the driver of an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Plug Inn application offers simple functions and many advantages, with a free registration.

Drivers of electric vehicles can reserve and geolocate a charging station in advance, plan their charging, while paying securely. During charging, Plug Inn offers the discovery of activities and surrounding places, identified by the host and geolocated by the application.

Hosts who own a private charging station can securely share and monetize their station by setting their rates. The application has an income simulator to estimate its financial gains, and a simple and flexible reservation system, to easily manage requests according to its availability slots. Finally, a customizable dashboard makes it possible to follow the statistics of the accumulated income, as well as the use made of the service.
