The Q6 e-tron, the missing link in Audi’s electric range between the Q4 e-tron and Q8 e-tron, will be presented at the end of the year. This cousin of the electric Porsche Macan will ensure the heart of the offer of electric SUVs at Audi.

It’s a growing range at Audi: e-tron, the sub-brand dedicated to the manufacturer’s 100% electric models. Since its official launch in 2019 by the e-tron Quattro SUV, Audi has launched five other electric SUV models. There were the Q3 et Q3 e-tron Sportback, the Q4 and Q4 e-tron Sportback. As well as Q8 and Q8 e-tron Sportbacknew name given to the 2019 SUV.

More surprisingly, the brand with the rings has launched a 598 horsepower electric sports car, thee-tron GT. A model that is just as much in line with the brand’s sports thermal models (R8, TT, RS3) as in its vision for the future. That of only offering electric models by 2030. Audi’s next electric flagship will be the A6 e-tron sedan, but also the Q6 e-tron SUVwhich unveils its first images…

A mid-range electric SUV from Audi

This new SUV will be the missing link between the current Q4 e-tron (4.60m) and Q8 e-tron (4.90m). He will be responsible for ensuring the heart of the range within electric SUVs at Audi. In his viewfinder is notably the Mercedes-Benz EQEwhich was launched in 2022. It is expected to resume the design of its little brother Q4 e-tron, especially on the front part. The grille will be full and tinted in gray, to better highlight its snout.

We should find the same shield with fake air intakes, as well as the Matrix projectors Q4 and Q8 e-tron. The rear lights will also logically be fitted with the technologie OLED, which allows you to customize the light signature in several configurations. For the rest, it is expected to display a sportier and less geometric silhouette than the current Q5 and Q7if one wants to compare with thermal models.

The cousin of the electric Porsche Macan

Technically, the vagueness persists. It will be based on the brand new EPP platform (Premium Platform Electric), which will also equip the Porsche and Lamborghini models. This will be able to accommodate a 800V batterycan accept up to 270 kW for charging. It will display a record recharge time: less than 25 minutes to fill up to 80%! In this configuration, its autonomy could climb to 700 kilometers despite a 476 horsepower and torque up to 800 Nm! Audi and Porsche being part of the same business-unit premium of the group, each brand will contribute its know-how in the development of their electric models. This Q6 e-tron will thus be the cousin of the future electric Porsche Macan. Both should be unveiled at the end of 2023for marketing in 2024.
