Maserati officially announces the end of its V8

Maserati will no longer produce a V8 model after 2024. The new V6 Nettuno will continue, while the gamma will largely be electrified as well.

“The Maserati V8 engine is dead, long live the Maserati V8!” » It is with this paraphrase of an old French motto that we can confirm to you today the end of a legendary engine from the Italian manufacturer.

The information was made official by Davide Grasso, the brand’s boss, during Motor Valley Fest 2023. will be produced until the end of 2023 and sales will continue until 2024.

A story over 60 years old

To properly celebrate the end of an era for the V8, Maserati has announced that the last two special editions of the Trofeo range will be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed ​​next July. These are the Ghibli 334 Ultima and the Levante V8 Ultima, the details of which are still unknown.

These models equipped with a V8, which the Italian firm has already described as “part of the history of mobility” et “a collector’s item for all owners of a unique piece in the history of the Italian brand”, will be the latest in a long line that began in 1959 with the 5000GT. 100,000 other cars produced by the Trident brand and equipped with the famous V8 will have seen the light of day afterwards.

On the way to all-electric

Now under the umbrella of the Stellantis group and its “Dare Forward 2030” strategic plan, each future Maserati will have an electric version and a thermal version. On the thermal side, there’s the new 3.0-liter twin-turbo Nettuno V6 and the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo.

From 2030, all new Maseratis will be 100% electric. For the moment, the Trident firm has only one electric model with the Grecale Folgore SUV. The MC20 supercar will also be entitled to its electron version in 2024.
