The McLaren boss’ incredible collection of cars

McLaren CEO Zak Brown has a colossal collection of cars in his garage, some of which have become legendary.

The PDG de McLarenZak Brown, is a california businessman having made a fortune, which is no secret. On the other hand, the general public is less aware of its little personal pleasure: acquiring exceptional carsas evidenced by his garage filled with a monstrous collection.

A collection worthy of a museum

Obviously, not all of Brown’s car collection is road legal, given the amount of racing cars he has at United Autosport’s facilities in the UK.

Brown manages to put some of his cars on the track every year, whether for exhibitions or demonstrations in the hands of seasoned professionals, and even occasionally takes the wheel himself.

Let’s review the cars that Brown was able to acquire :

As CEO and fan of the marque since childhood, it’s no surprise that Brown owns several McLaren cars. One of them was that of Ayrton Senna, a McLaren-Honda MP4/6 dating from 1991. The Brazilian had also won the drivers’ championship that season. It’s Zak Brown’s favorite, as he says himself: “I’ve had it for five years, and if I had to choose just one car from my collection, it would be this one. Unfortunately I didn’t drive it because I can’t fit, but it was driven by Emerson Fittipaldi at Goodwood in 2021.”

In his garage, there is also Mika Hakkinen’s single-seater. It is a McLaren-Mercedes MP4/16, with which Hakkinen won his last Grand Prix. It also has Lewis Hamilton’s 2012 McLaren MP4/27, which won the Italian and United States Grands Prix.

Beyond F1, Brown owns a 1970 McLaren M8D, a Chevrolet-powered 7.6-litre Can-Am that was driven by Peter Gethin and Dan Gurney. This is the same car that Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz drove at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2019. Incidentally, the brand’s founder, Bruce McLaren, died in an M8D during a test at Goodwood in 1970.

Besides, he obviously owns road-going McLarens, like a 730-horsepower, million-dollar P1 hybrid.

Brown also owns a McLaren Speedtail, a unique 1,000 horsepower supercar developed by the road car division under his direction (estimated at $2.2 million).
