They are arrested with 150,000 euros in the wheel of their car!
During a routine check in Granada (Spain), the police found several bundles inside the wheel of the criminals’ car.
The spanish font intercepted two individuals who were driving with 152,930 euros hidden in the wheel. During a routine check, the police had a funny surprise when they arrested two young people, aged 21 and 22, arriving from Ceuta. Near Granada, they were arrested and they obviously did not have the mandatory declaration of the movement of means of payment.
The wheel of fortune
The intervention took place on the A92N, in the town of Gor, in the early hours of May 5th. The police patrol of Gor and that of La Calahorra, in Granada, deployed an operational device and selectively intercepted vehicles to identify occupants and search for suspicious cars. This is what we can read in their press release.
During these searches, the officers stopped the car of two young individuals. When they identified them, they could see that they came from Ceuta and showed a nervous attitude. When they searched the car in every corner, they discovered that they had money hidden in the spare tire. To begin with, neither of the two young men acknowledged that the money belonged to them. But afterwards, the passenger admitted that it was his and that they were carrying more than 150,000 euros.

Several bundles in the rim
The agents asked him for the compulsory declaration of the movements of means of payment which would justify the movement of more than one hundred thousand euros through the national territory and the culprit replied in the negative.
The police transferred the money to the Guadix barracks and it was found that inside the bag were 15 bundles of banknotes of different denominations, packed with a transparent film : two 100 euro notes; 1,457 of 50 euros; 3,148 of 20 euros; 1,683 for 10 euros and 18 for five euros.
Given the existence of a money laundering offence, the money was paid into the account that the Ministry of Economy and Finance provides for this purpose. The two young people were denounced before the competent authority for violation of the law.
The Police have opened an investigation to try to find out the origin and destination of the seized money.
