Shell Starship 3.0, the impressive truck of the future that runs on biogas
A real innovation, Shell’s Starship 3.0 truck will be equipped with a Cummins gas engine, with the aim of making it greener.
The ACT Expo in Anaheim, California provided an opportunity to learn more about the Starship 3.0 de Shell and its development. This is a new version of this truck which aims to make freight transport greener.
The truck of the future will be green
While a first version was launched in 2018, this one is even more innovative. Indeed, it uses point technologies with regard to energy efficiency. The Starship 3.0 is actually the third version, which runs on renewable gas thanks to the new Cummins X15N CNG engine.
According to the President of Shell Global Solutions: “ The combination of Shell RNG fleet fuels and Shell Rotella lubricants makes the natural gas engine an excellent choice for the next evolution of Starship.”
Indeed, the new version of the Starship offers a reduction in the weight of the vehicle but also better aerodynamics, which is not negligible. With its Bridgestone tires and its cabin designed to offer the best possible comfort to drivers and passengers, this green truck is a great promise.

On the road this summer
Obviously, the Starship 3.0 will not only remain in the living rooms on display. It is expected to hit the road this summer on the West Coast of the United States. This will be an opportunity to see him over a long distance, between San Diego and Jacksonville, Florida.
In order to verify its consumption and emissions data, the NACFE (North American Council for Freight Efficiency) will carry out all the necessary analyses.
Of new information on the Shell Starship 3.0 will be revealed later. You should know that the multinational Shell has made its commitment to the planet a priority, in particular by making transport greener. The project of this truck is the proof that it tries to develop new technologies.
The gas used is considered to have low carbon intensity. It will obviously be less polluting than diesel engines.
