With its new Tourneo Courier, Ford completes the renewal of its utility vehicles and MPVs, which began in 2021. The newcomer will tackle the Renault Kangoo, thermal and electric, head-on.
After the utility version, make way for the passenger version! Ford lifts the veil today on its new mini MPV: the Tourneo Courier. The manufacturer is definitely accelerating the renewal of its range of utilities/MPVs. The big brother Tourneo Connect (and e-Tourneo Connect in the electric version) was unveiled in a completely new generation in 2021. It was followed in 2022 by that of the Ford Ranger. More recently, at the beginning of 2023, it is the very large Tourneo Custom which was presented. There was therefore only one missing in this triptych of “vans” for individuals. This is now done with the all-new Tourneo Courier. As a reminder, because it can be a bit of a mess, here is how the range of commercial vehicles is organized at Ford. The name Transit means the versions dedicated to the transport of goods, Tourneo those dedicated to the transport of people.
To this, four suffixes specify the model in question. From smallest to largest, there is thus the Mailthe Connectthe Custom and finally the 2t (Transit only, called Minicar in VP). The Tourneo Courier is therefore now the smallest MPV in the Ford range. Compared to its big brother Tourneo Connect, it does not benefit from technologies shared with Volkswagen, and rests on a house base. Its dimensions are up compared to the first generation Tourneo Courrier: length, wheelbase, width and height evolve ! For Ford, it is a question of bringing this new model closer to its great rival in Europe: Renault Kangoo. The first generation of the Tourneo Courier was indeed smaller, and similar in size to the Fiat Fiorino and Renault Express.

It will be able to accommodate on board five persons, and up to 1,1198 liters of luggage once the second seat has been folded down. Count 44 liters more on the e-Tourneo electric version, which adds a trunk at the front, instead of the heat engine. Although providing the entry level of the Tourneo family, the Courier is not “low-cost” for all that. In the electric version, it embeds a large 2X12 inch digital panelwith a dashboard with a modern design and a neat presentation. In combustion, only one engine is offered: a 1.0L three-cylinder petrol engine with 125 horsepower. Exit the diesel version then! In electric, it will be necessary to rely on the unique 136 horsepower engine. Ford has not yet communicated on the autonomy figures and the e-Tourneo version. Priority will in any case be given to the marketing of the thermal version, which will arrive at the end of 2023compared to the end of 2024 for the electric e-Tourneo.
