Honda: soon an electric sports car thanks to F1?

Honda has announced its return to F1 as engine supplier to Aston Martin. But the Japanese manufacturer is not going to stop there.

A beneficial return to Formula 1

Honda is going to get even more into the electric in the years to come. For this the Japanese manufacturer has announced his return in Formula 1 as motorists d’Aston Martin.

But Honda will not stop there since the japanese firm intends to develop a brand new electric sports car based on technology used in F1.

In fact, the hybrid power unit (integrated into the electrical unit) which will equip single-seaters from 2026 will be three times more powerful than currently.

Marketing not before 2026

Honda has therefore announced that it wants to transfer the technology used in Formula 1 in “production electric cars, like a flagship sports model”can we read in the press release.

The Japanese manufacturer did not detail what would make up the future electric sports car. The new model should not see the day before 2026. We will therefore have to wait a little bit.

In total, Honda counts to transfer technologies, not only for vehicles, but also for flying machineslike the eVTOL.

For its part, Aston Martin did not communicate on a use of this collaboration within the framework of the development of a production car.

It wouldn’t be the first time Aston Martin has joined a part from an external constructor. As a reminder, the V8 Mercedes equips part of his cars. In addition, the collaboration with Red Bull Racing resulted in a Valkyrie.
