Spokespersons for TotalEnergies explain the reasons for the soaring fuel prices in recent weeks.
It’s a fact, fuel is getting more and more expensive. If we had been able to take advantage of a small lull a few weeks ago, prices have started to rise again recently. In particular, the increase in demand due to school holidays, which is added to the very high taxation, as well as the war in Ukraine. But would these be the only reasons for this increase? Well not necessarily. And this is the oil group TotalEnergies which explains it. Auto-Moto journalists were indeed able to speak with spokespersons who gave us some additional information.
(#SudRadio)@dupontaignan : “To have a real reduction in the price of fuel to 1.50 euros, the profits of the oil companies must be taxed! »

The latter, who remained anonymous, explain that one of the main reasons for this increase are the hidden costs, including those relating to distribution. According to them ” these costs are the same for the entire profession and their variation is multi-factorial“. But that’s not all, because this increase is also linked to the ” increase in EEC energy certificates“, which correspond to about 7 cents per liter of fuel. Finally, biofuels such as ethanol are also more expensive, again due to the war in ukraine. It is indeed there that many agricultural raw materials are produced.
It is in particular to limit the increase that TotalEnergies has implemented for several months already a price cap at 1.99 euro per liter in its service stations. This measure has a real positive impact, as fuel now often exceeds the two euro mark. For its part, the 40 million motorists association is asking a reduction in VAT, but the government does not want to know anything. He believes that it would be useless but would cost the state too much money.
