The Mercedes EQE adopts level 4 automated parking

The Mercedes EQE Sedan now offers driverless Smart Parking Autopilot (SAE Level 4) functionality.

In November 2022, Mercedes-Benz and Bosch received the world’s first approval for using the Autopilot feature of smart parking and driverless, in the APCOA P6 car park at Stuttgart Airport, Germany. It is the first car park in the world to offer an automated valet parking service to Mercedes customers.

Now the new Mercedes EQE Saloon is now available with this feature of automated parking SAE level 4, which allows the automatic control of intelligent, driverless parking to be delegated to the car. Thanks to the Remote Parking Pack and the Mercedes Me Connect Intelligent Park Pilot service, it is possible for EQE users to exit the vehicle and send it autonomously to a pre-reserved parking space via their smartphone.

Mercedes EQE: focus on automated parking

This intelligent parking autopilot function frees users from the drudgery of finding a parking space and parking there: the parking experience is more comfortable, and becomes a real asset in car parks with narrow spaces. .

With the Mercedes Me application, the user reserves a parking space in advance, then deposits his electric sedan in a designated drop-off area within the car park. When all passengers have exited, the driver initiates the automated parking maneuver with the Mercedes Me app.

The application confirms that the automated valet parking infrastructure has taken control of the vehicle: the driver can then leave the car park with complete peace of mind. Thanks to an intelligent infrastructure put in place by Bosch, the car drives automatically to the reserved parking space and parks there completely autonomously. When they return to the car park, customers can retrieve their vehicle via the smartphone application: it then automatically leaves its place, then goes to the pick-up area to be picked up by its owner.

A function soon available on the Mercedes EQS, Class S and E

In addition to the Mercedes EQE Sedan, this level 4 automated parking system is now also available on the Mercedes EQS Sedan and S-Class, with the exception of Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Maybach models.

The new Mercedes E-Class is also ready to have level 4 automated valet parking, since it can be optionally pre-installed with the Intelligent Park Pilot system. Thanks to the Remote Parking Pack option and the Mercedes Me Connect Intelligent Park Pilot service, the new E-Class also has on-board technology for autonomous parking.
