This Porsche completes a lap of the Nurburgring in off-road mode

This Porsche 911 completed a lap of the Nurburgring using a very unusual driving method.

This Porsche 911 Dakar has just completed a lap of the Nürburgring circuit in an unconventional way. It is clear that this model can easily roll on surfaces reserved for all-terrain vehicles. It was also designed as the worthy successor to the Porsche 953 which won the Paris-Dakar in 1984.

However, what about his performance on the circuit ? The pilot had no intention of breaking any particular record. He completed the lap with a time of 7:39:40. Admittedly, it is far from the record for homologated cars established by the Mercedes-Benz AMG One. Nevertheless, the interest of this test was quite different…

This Porsche 911 Dakar launches on the Nürburgring circuit… without respecting the route

The particularity of the lap completed by this Porsche 911 Dakar lies in the way in which the driving was carried out. The pilot didn’t really worry about it: he didn’t not following the route of the famous German circuit. In reality, it was a test voluntarily authorized by the leaders of the Nurburgring, in order to mix circuit and off-road.

During the race, Christian Gebhardt, the driver, took the 911 Dakar through huge shortcutsas the « steep section »or by bypassing the section « Carousel » of the Nurburgring. The Porsche was also driven on the grassy tracks of the circuit, when cornering.

A performance not comparable with other towers

The lap of the Nurburgring was also carried out entirely in mode “Rally”. This did not prevent the Porsche 911 Dakar from maintaining good traction on the track and during the turns. Its Pirelli tires were also quite effective in allowing him to cut out of the circuit.

Of course, the overall time that this Porsche has achieved is not comparable with other laps completed. in other cars. It was, in the end, more of a curiosity on the part of the pilot in question. In short, was it possible to do a lap of the Nurburgring with a Porsche 911 Dakar cutting by shortcuts. Obviously, this is indeed the case.
