After several weeks of rising, could the price of fuel finally fall? We will explain everything to you !
It’s been going on for over a year. Indeed, since last year, the price of fuel has risen sharply everywhere in Europe, and especially in France. In question, the war in ukraine, as well as the Russian oil embargo. But that’s not all, because the other producing countries have also taken the decision to reduce their exports, with the aim of driving up the price of a barrel. And of course, this has a direct impact on the amount paid at the pump by motorists. And since the beginning of the summer, prices have been constantly rising, with resorts sometimes exceeding the two euro per liter mark.

But then, when will this situation finally calm down? Is a drop in prices finally to be expected in the coming months? Well for now, nothing is less certain. Indeed, prices are still very high, and the trend is upward due to the drop in oil production. But some specialists are whispering that the trend could be reversed in the coming weeks. And for good reason, the price of oil is beginning to drop slightly, in particular due to concerns about the economic health of China and the stock market. However, we know that Beijing is the world’s largest importer.
But then, should we expect pay less for fuel over the next few weeks? To be honest, nothing is sure yet. According to Francis Perrin, associate researcher at the Policy Center for the New South, “ it all depends on the duration of the fall in the price of oil: if it only lasts a few days, that will not be enough, it will have to continue for quite a long time“. Be that as it may, the government refuses to put in place new aid and above all refrains from lowering VAT, to the chagrin of associations for the defense of motorists.
