Mercedes-AMG GT: the second generation unveiled at Pebble Beach

Mercedes unveils the new generation of Mercedes-AMG GT, powered by an AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine developing up to 585 horsepower!

On the occasion of the Pebble Beach 2023 Concours d’Elegance, the German manufacturer presented this weekend the second generation of the Mercedes-AMG GTits famous flagship which takes the form of a 2+2 sports coupé.

In terms of style, the model evolves smoothly with fluid lines, a more imposing grille, or even a stern equipped with two flat LED optics, connected in their center by a black headband, and surmounted by an active rear spoiler.

Mercedes-AMG GT: a new generation of technology

The interior has been updated, with a cabin similar to the latest productions of Mercedes, and which is reminiscent of the last SL. In particular, there is a large 11.9 inch touch screen in portrait format, equipped with the MBUX infotainment system, a three-twin-spoke steering wheel, as well as a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

At the back, we find two additional seatsbut don’t expect four people to travel comfortably: the German manufacturer specifies that the two rear seats have been designed to accommodate “persons up to 1.5 meters tall” ! This rear seat can easily be folded down to increase the volume of the trunk by 321 litres, to increase it to 675 litres.

On the technology side, there is a wide range of driver assistance systems, steering rear wheelsAMG Active Ride Control adjustable suspensions, an AMG Dynamic Select six driving mode selector, an AMG Track Pace telemetry system that allows the car’s performance to be recorded for use on the circuit, as well as accessible connected digital services via the MBUX infotainment system.

Up to 585 signature AMG horsepower under the hood

At launch, we will find under the hood a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine signed AMG, which will be available in two power levels: the version AMG GT 55 developed 476 horsepower and 700 Nm of torqueand is capable of swallowing the 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, for a maximum speed of 295 km/h.

The most powerful version will be theAMG GT 63strong of 585 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, for a 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 315 km/h. Both versions will be mated to 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, as well as an AMG Speedshift MCT 9G nine-speed automatic gearbox. Later, other engines will join the range of this new AMG GT with, according to rumours, a rechargeable hybrid version.

The new Mercedes AMG GT will go on sale by beginning of the year 2024at rates to be announced later.
