Accident: Smoke billows from a Pagani Utopia at Monterey Car Week

From August 11 to 20, the Monterey Car Week, one of the most publicized events in the automotive world in the summer. It takes, in fact, the form of a motor show hosting the most prestigious vintage cars in the world. This year’s vehicles included a Countries Utopia.

This exceptional Italian supercar caused quite a stir during Monterey Car Week last Friday. But, not for the reasons expected for such a car. She was, in fact, victim of an accident which caused panic for a few minutes.

A frightening situation at first glance

In the middle of the event, last Friday, smoke began to billow en masse from the Pagani Utopia. Necessarily, many spectators and event officials were stunned by this dangerous situation at first sight. Was the supercar catching fire ?

The information provided by Pagani is more reassuring. As reported by the media Carscoops, the smoke was caused by the fire extinguisher built into the vehicle. This was accidentally activated by a Monterey Car Week attendee, which explained that many the smoke has risen of the car.

This incident revealed at the same time that the Pagani Utopia is equipped with an integrated system designed to fight against a possible fire starting from the engine. The extinguisher in question can be activated by means ofa switch located inside the cabin. And, while vehicle owners are likely aware of this particular feature, the guest who enabled it may not have been.

This incident did not taint the Italian brand. Pagani’s presence at Monterey Car Week this year was exceptional. In addition to displaying the Utopia, the builder came up with a Silver Zonda and an Huayra blanche. As for the Utopia, all existing models have been sold. Their cost amounts to more than two million euros.
