A designer imagines a Plymouth Superbird for 2045

A Californian designer has designed a futuristic version of an American racing legend: the Plymouth Superbird.

When it comes to talking about futuristic cars, the Plymouth Superbird does not immediately come to mind. The Plymouth brand hasn’t even existed since 2001. As for the Superbird, this sports car has certainly marked American motor racing. This dates back to the 1970s.

However, a designer, Hayden Ahn, took it into his head to imagine what a futuristic Plymouth Superbird model could look like. He then took from his imagination a fully electric version of the Superbird for production in the year 2045. Admittedly, the work of this designer is not one of the Chrysler projects. But it is nonetheless interesting.

A 100% electric Plymouth Superbird for 2045

It’s not for nothing that this designer chose the Plymouth Superbird for his futuristic car. Although it is hardly used today, this model had particularly marked the american motorsport in the 1970s. He decided to revive the Superbird.

“This is a studio project done at the Art Center College of Design under the supervision of the faculty and with the help of school resources”has explained the designer behind the project. “This project aims to revive the late manufacturer Plymouth, which left a big mark on American muscle car culture, by bringing the famous Superbird back to life for 2045.”

A body that could change shape

Designer renderings show a Plymouth Superbird sporting a modern style. Inside the Mind of Hayden Ahnthe body can move on the car depending on whether it is put into mode « normal » or in mode « piste ». The nose of this new Superbird is just as surprising: it is particularly sharp and aerodynamic.

Hayden Ahn also planned to slide the nose forward in this mode « piste ». The car would then take on a look similar to the original Superbird. With this mode, a rear wing is also deployed to allow the vehicle to better adhere to the road. In addition to being electric, this Plymouth Superbird 2045 could therefore change shape!
