Bison Futé: traffic forecasts for the weekend of August 25, 2023

The coming weekend will be marked by a new weekend of school holidays in France, one of the last of this summer season. This will therefore be an opportunity for many motorists to hit the road during this weekend, with significant migratory flows to be expected on the main axes of the country, and in particular returns from the south or coastal areas to the major cities.

Travelers will indeed be numerous on the roads of France, if we are to believe the forecasts of smart one : the little Indian road traffic specialist predicts that the first difficulties will arise on Friday August 25, 2023.

Bison Futé: a holiday weekend on the French roads

Indeed, Friday August 25 will be a difficult day in the direction of returns, with classified traffic ORANGE at the national level and ROUGE on the Mediterranean Arc. In Île-de-France, the first slowdowns could appear at the start of the afternoon: on the A10 motorway between the Saint-Arnoult toll and Wissous, but also on the A6 motorway, between Corbeil and Wissous. From mid-afternoon, traffic will be difficult due to these returns, in addition to home-work journeys. In the provinces, traffic will be particularly difficult in the Rhône valley on the A7 motorway, around the Mediterranean (A8 and A9 motorways) as well as on the A10 motorway between Bordeaux and Poitiers. These difficulties will begin at the beginning of the afternoon and will continue until late in the evening.

The difficulties will continue throughout the day of Saturday August 26, with classified traffic ORANGE at the national level in the direction of departures, and ROUGE at the national level in the sense of returns. All the country’s main travel routes will be impacted. Major difficulties are expected in particular on the A7 motorway in both directions of traffic. In the return direction, the A10 motorway (between Bordeaux and Poitiers) and the A9 motorway (between Narbonne and Montpellier) should also experience severe disruption.

On Sunday August 27, 2023, the day will be classified ORANGE at the national level in the sense of returns. In Île-de-France, it is the A10 and A6 motorways that will concentrate these difficulties, between the start of the afternoon and the end of the evening, but the A13 motorway could also be impacted. In the provinces, the slowdowns should start from mid-morning: the most significant congestion is expected on the A7, A10 and A71 motorways.

On Monday, August 28, traffic will be difficult in the direction of returns, with a classified day ORANGE at the national level, and ROUGE in Ile-de-France. In Île-de-France, in the direction of returns, the first difficulties are expected from the beginning of the afternoon on the A10 and A6 motorways, but also the A86 and the Parisian Boulevard Périphérique, which allow you to reach the A3 and A1 motorways towards the North of France. Traffic will be heavy until late in the evening. In the provinces, the main traffic difficulties are expected from the start of the afternoon and until the start of the evening, in the Rhône valley (A7 motorway) and on the A10 motorway between Tours and Orléans.
