BMW M3 (E30): Manhart doubles its power to 405 horsepower!

Fan of the BMW M3 (E30)? Manhart Performance is also interested in classic cars, with this preparation called Manhart MH3 3.5 Turbo with 405 horsepower.

The famous German tuner Manhart Performance is starting to take an interest in classic models, which are increasingly in vogue. Manhart Classic Cars has just unveiled the Manhart MH3 3.5 Turboa preparation based on the very first BMW M3 (E30)sporty version of the second generation of the BMW 3 Series.

To make this model more spectacular, Manhart replaced the 2.3-liter four-cylinder with a block 3.5-liter turbocharged inline-sixborrowed from an Alpina B7 S Turbo, the fastest production sedan in the world at its time, based on a first generation BMW 5 Series (E12).

BMW M3 (E30): a 405 horsepower six-cylinder

This block developed 330 horsepower and 500 Nm, but it was apparently not enough, since several modifications were made to it. Manhart has added a turbocharger and intercooler, as well as a manual boost controller that frees up to 405 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque : that’s more than double the original 195 horsepower engine!

Engine power is transmitted to the drive wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, along with a Drexler differential with 25% lock and an additional cooler. A specific exhaust system also frees up the model’s performance and sound, while new Brembo brakes improve the M3’s braking performance.

Manhart MH3 3.5 Turbo: the latest M3 E30?

Aesthetically, the Manhart MH3 3.5 Turbo receives a matte dark green wrap, a carbon front spoiler blade, a carbon rear spoiler, smoked taillights, as well as contrasting red piping. The 19-inch Manhart Concave One matt black alloy wheels are shod with 215/35 R19 tires at the front and 245/30 R19 at the rear. An H&R suspension kit also improves the handling of the car.

Inside, there is red leather upholstery, a Momo three-spoke sports steering wheel 350 mm in diameter, and a wooden gear lever knob signed Manhart. To the left of the center air vent, a digital data display allows the driver to monitor many parameters such as engine temperature or turbo pressure.
