Last Sunday, Spain won the first FIFA Women’s World Cup in its history by beating England in the final (1-0). Even if we don’t know much about the world champions in France, the make and models of the cars in which they drive are known. Discover them.

Cars without great luxury

As for double Ballon d’Or Alexia Putellas, or even her national teammates, the cars they drive have no not really much to do with those of their male professional colleagues. The Barça star, for example, has a Cupra Formentor hybrid rechargeable, the model of the sports brand from Seat. In 2021, she became its ambassador and received a vehicle, like other footballers from the Catalan club, such as Ansu Fati and Marc Ter Stegen.

Sponsors as suppliers

Cupra hit the nail on the head by making Alexia Putellas its muse. The brand considers it a “talented young woman who seeks to be the driving force behind the transformation of sport, in this case female”. When she wins a second Ballon d’Or in 2022, Cupra, on the occasion of this feat, offers her a new Cupra Formentor e-Hybrid. It is an SUV that has some elements of the famous Seat Leon and is made in Martorell, in the Seat factory located in Catalonia. With a power of 245 hp, it can travel 59 kilometers in 100% electric mode. In less than three years, 30,000 cars of this type have been sold in Spain, which represents a great success.

13% of orders are for the plug-in hybrid version, while 81% of customers have chosen the petrol version. Seat was the sponsor of the Spanish selection two years ago and has also sponsored the Copa del Rey, one of the main competitions in the country. The official vehicle of the Red was also a model of the mark. In 2019, Seat offered an Arona to each player, including Jennifer Hermoso (see photo). This sponsorship aimed to support the development of women’s football in Spain. It is clear that they were right, with the title of world champions won two years later.
