Toyota: fire halts production at Czech factory

Toyota’s production line in Europe was disrupted last week. A fire broke out in one of the manufacturer’s factories in Czech Republic. A video of the scene has also been posted online and shows how serious the situation was.

The factory in question participates in the production of two types of models: Toyota Aygo X and the Toyota Yaris. As reported by the media Automotive News Europe, the Japanese company does not know how long it will take to resume production of these two series. For the moment, it is thus interrupted.

Serious fire destroys Toyota plant in the Czech Republic

The video shows the extent of the fire in question. The factory appears to be in flames over most of its surface and the state of the building gives the impression that an explosion has taken place. However, the causes of the accident have not been disclosed. As several local media point out, the damage amounts to a value of almost 80 million euros.

Above all, the entire production of the Aygo X urban crossover and the Yaris is affected. The factory that suffered from the fire supplies Toyota and other car manufacturers plastic components essential to make these two models. For the moment, the Japanese manufacturer is therefore facing a shortage of parts which requires production to be stopped.

Of course, the builder did not sit idly by in the face of this fire. Firefighters intervenedand it took them about fifty hours to extinguish the flames.
