In a category deserted by most manufacturers, Volkswagen is doing well with its T-Roc Cabriolet, the first best-selling coupé cabriolet in Europe since the start of the year…
At Volkswagen, the T-Roc has been the gateway to the crossover range since 2017. If we speak in the past, it is because it was supported from 2019 by a more family model, le T-Crossand at the end of last year by a coupé variant, the Taigo. But then, what is left for the T-Roc? In this triptych of crossovers with fairly similar sizes and philosophies, it stands out from the top, being the most chic and opulent alternative. It is one of the German group’s best-sellers, even snatching market share from the historic Golf! In 2022, Volkswagen reviewed the positioning of his T-Roc, to better distinguish it from the T-Cross and Taigo, but also from the Golf. It is more upmarket, taking advantage of a complete restyling in terms of equipment…
It has since featured LED headlights as standard, which can be complemented by an elegant light strip on the grille, and Matrix LED technology. This new premium look is most evident inside, with noble materials: foamed plastics, imitation leather upholstery, leather seats. The instrumentation is 100% digital and it features a new optional 9.2-inch infotainment screen. Three petrol engines and two diesel units are offered in the range. Its entry ticket is in France from €26,700 in petrol, and €30,120 in petrol. A repositioning that boosted its salesin France and in Europe. But the success of the model is not only due to the “classic” T-Roc…
In 2020, Volkswagen marketed an original T-Roc Cabriolet ! The builder was following the path previously traced by Nissan with its Murano CrossCabrioletand Land Rover with Sound Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet. A bet that has obviously been a winner since in the first 7 months of 2023, the T-Roc Cabriolet was the best-selling coupé/cabriolet in Europe ! Between January and July 2023, 8,732 units have been soldup 10% from the same period in 2022.
A very good score, for a category yet deserted by most manufacturers. We remember in the past Megane, 308, Astra or Focus CC. But also Wind, C3 Pluriel, Barchetta or the Roadster (Smart). Today, we find in second position the Mazda MX-5 (4,570 units sold), and l’Alpine A110 (2,155 copies). In the coming years, this ranking should, without too much surprise, be occupied by 100% electric models.
