The government refuses to introduce a new fuel discount, despite the sharp rise in prices.
For almost six months, the price of fuel has never been so high. And this has been particularly the case since the start of the school holidays, when demand is obviously stronger. But one of the reasons is also to be linked to the decline in production as well as oil exports by the countries that manufacture it. This largely explains the skyrocketing prices. Results, the diesel as well as the lead-free 95 are very dangerously close to the bar of two euros per liter on average, currently hovering around 1.90 euros. And that should unfortunately continue over the next few months, at least in September.

If some distributors have made a gesture in favor of motorists, such as Casino, TotalEnergies or even Leclerc, the latter are now awaiting a response from the government. However, this one is slow to come, and it is not really what we hoped for. Indeed, the Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne spoke about this yesterday. She explains that he ” there has been an increase in prices since July but we should not have a surge in the coming weeks“. But that’s not all, because she also mentions the possibility of new help.
And there is the cold shower. It indeed confirms that »there are no plans to issue fuel vouchers at present. For memory, a grant of 100 euros had been donated to many motorists at the start of the year, but only subject to income conditions. It should be noted that the government also categorically refuses to reduce the amount of fuel taxes, and instead asks distributors to make an effort by trimming their margins. Meanwhile, the fuel continues its inexorable outbreak all over France…
