Ji Yue 01: a new electric SUV from Geely and Baidu

The Chinese group Geely partnered with Chinese company Baiduspecialized in artificial intelligence, to create a new joint venture: Ji Yue, which was previously known as Jidu Auto. Ji Yue will come to expand the Geely Group’s offer as a new marque automobile premium specializing in smart technologies.

On this occasion, the two partners presented their very first model: the Ji Yue 01a 100% electric premium SUV, which was already announced last year under the name “Robo-01”.

Ji Yue 01: an intelligent and autonomous SUV

Without giving us more information for the moment, according to the Chinese manufacturer, the Ji Yue 01 intended to “redefining the concept of intelligent mobility”by meeting the expectations of Chinese motorists keen on technology and autonomous mobility solutions.

The new model aims to offer an unprecedented intelligent automotive experience: in addition to marketing its cars and services, Ji Yue aims to build and develop its own network of electric charging stations in China, in order to meet the growing demand from motorists owning an electric car.

Resting on the SEA platform (Sustainable Experience Architecture), which also equips other models of the group such as the Smart #1, Volvo EX30, Polestar 4, Lotus Eletre or even Zeekr 001, the Ji Yue 01 is distinguished by a sleek and futuristic style, and extends over 4, 85 meters long.

Launch at the end of 2023

According to information previously revealed around the Robo-01, the model offers a 555-litre trunk (up to 1,528 liters when the bench seat is folded down), and is equipped with a 100 kWh CATL batterygiving it an autonomy of up to up to 600km. We find under its bowels a double electric motorization, with a total power of 544 horsepowerallowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.

On the technology side, there are the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 and Nvidia Orin X platforms, with no less than 31 sensors and 2 LiDARs offering it autonomous driving capabilities. Extensive 35.6 inch 6K display occupies most of the dashboard, while there is a 7-inch screen for the rear passengers.

The Ji Yue 01 will soon be marketed, and the start of its production is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023: the first deliveries will thus follow quickly, by the end of year 2023.
