Unveiled a few months ago, the new BMW 5 Series plug-in hybrid will be available in two versions, with great autonomy.
For the past few months, we can say that BMW has not really been idle. Indeed, the manufacturer multiplies announcements and other novelties, including the all-new 5 Series. This rival of the Mercedes E-Class has indeed offered a whole new generation, reviewed in depth. The latter is obviously distinguished by a completely redesigned style, but not only. Indeed, the driving position is also evolving to become more technological. The latter includes a 14.9-inch touch screen, combined with a 12.3-inch digital handset. But that’s obviously not all!

For the very first time, the German sedan is available in an unprecedented 100% electric version, dubbed i5. The latter is offered in two variants, 40 and M60, displaying powers between 335 and 590 horsepower. Autonomy is announced at 582 kilometers maximum according to the WLTP cycle. But the manufacturer will also launch plug-in hybrid versions, in addition to petrol and diesel versions. And now we begin to know more about them. And in particular with regard to their autonomy in electric mode, which promises to be very impressive.
If the 550e xDrive version will claim between 79 and 90 kilometers, which is already more than good compared to most of its rivals, the 530e version is even stronger. Indeed, the latter announces an autonomy that can reach 101 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. And this thanks to a 19.4 kWh battery. The charge will take three hours at a maximum power of 7.4 kWh in direct current, and ten hours on a household outlet. The engine will claim between 299 and 489 horsepower depending on the version chosen.
