A cast of choice

Since August 9, fervent admirers of the Gran Turismo franchise have had the chance to discover on the big screen the thrilling adventures of the GT Academy as well as the career of British driver Jann Mardenborough, thanks to the film of the same name, directed by the Neill Blomkamp.

The feature film, featuring acclaimed actors such as Archie Madekwe (playing Jann Mardenborough) and Orlando Bloom (known for his roles in “Pirates of the Caribbean” and the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy), notably traces the story of a Nissan R35 GT-R, that Jann Mardenborough himself drove in competition in the colors of Nissan Europe.

As well as the exploits of Jann Mardenborough, this Nissan GT-R GT3 has also been driven by other GT Academy winners, including Ricardo Sanchez, Gaetan Paletou and Lucas Ordonez. It also took part in the FIA GT Championship, with Alex Buncombe and Stuart Moore at the controls.

The Nissan GT-R, which played a major role on the big screen and on the racetrack, will be auctioned by Silverstone Auctions at the prestigious Silverstone Classic event, taking place from August 25-26. Experts estimate that this collector’s item could find a new buyer for an oscillating amount between 225,000 and 275,000 pounds (about 260,000 to 318,000 euros).
