This is not a converted van, but a converted pick-up. Volkswagen has just presented the Amarok PanAmericana at the Düsseldorf Motor Show reserved for leisure vehicles.
For adventurous spirits who are not satisfied with the cozy comfort of traditional campsites, a new era of freedom is coming with the all-new Volkswagen Amarok PanAmericana.
Revealed with great fanfare at the Düsseldorf show dedicated to leisure vehicles, the Volkswagen Amarok PanAmericana is much more than a simple variation of the eponymous pick-up. If its cousin, the California, is more about comfort, or even a little luxury, the Amarok PanAmericana seeks to conquer the most hostile territoriesoffering an alliance between all-terrain functionality and nomadic spirit.
Imagine yourself on top of a mountain ridge, roof tent deployed, enjoying breathtaking views while being lulled by a light breeze. This is the experience offered by the Amarok PanAmericana thanks to its carefully selected equipment, including an Alu-Cab hardtop, a roof tent and a 270 degree tilting awning with a berth for two people.
The Amarok PanAmericana is distinguished by its rugged look, with BF Goodrich AT tires specially adapted for steep terrain. The roof-mounted LED optics, in conjunction with the additional headlamps at the front, ensure that the paths are still quite safe. This off-road incarnation was designed and produced by Genesis Import, a German company renowned for its expertise in vehicle fittings.
Under the hood, we find the famous 3.0-litre V6 TDI developing 240 horsepower and 600 Nm. With all-wheel drive and a differential lock on the rear axle, this machine is ready to tackle steep trails, muddy rivers and rocky paths without flinching.
With a base price of 69,000 euros in Germany, the Amarok PanAmericana is not affordable for everyone. In France, it is unlikely to escape the ecological penalty, because it does not comply with the standards of VASP approval reserved for vehicles with complete interior fittings. In other words, this extreme all-terrain machine is both a promise of freedom and a significant investment.
