It was last July that the life of this Cannes family changed. After their house caught fire, Sabrina, Hamza, and their four children had to manage to find a roof. They were admittedly relocated for three weeks in an emergency, but subsequently they began to sleep in the back of their little truck.

It is the father of the family who takes care of the children alone in the vehicle. His wife has just given birth and she is hospitalized. In view of the heat of the last few days, it is easy to imagine the suffering of all these little people, on the side of the La Bocca Market. The mother says: “We need to find an emergency solution, especially for the children, with this heat. I run every day everywhere, in town halls, CCAS, MSD (Houses of departmental solidarity), but it’s not easy. »

For several days, this family has found itself homeless, even though it has done nothing wrong to get there…

A fire at the origin of their ills

It all started on July 8, when a fire destroyed their apartment in Cannes. The mother remembers: “It was the children who alerted me,” she recalls. It happened little…” In view of the damage, they will only be able to return to their accommodation in February 2024… Although they are in a very touristy area, everything is rented seasonally. It is therefore impossible for them to find accommodation. Their insurance then comes to their aid and the family is accommodated from July 11 to 29. But since then, they have been sleeping in their van. Her children are between one and eight years old but they are trying somehow to hold on.

Even if the insurance was lenient in offering to pay the rent the first time, it is extremely difficult to find something at this time of year. Especially since you have to be able to find accommodation for four children! To make matters worse, their loved ones are far away. While waiting to find a situation, they have adopted the D system and go to dinner with friends, wash with others… Their only desire now is to find accommodation… The parents of this family will soon be summoned by the town hall and the CCAS, in order to see the end of the tunnel and to use their van as a simple means of transport.
