TotalEnergies: the price of fuel capped until the end of the year

Since the beginning of the summer, the price of fuel has risen sharply, reaching prices never seen at some gas stations. Indeed, one of them even exceeded the bar of 2.70 euros. And this even if the price of a barrel of oil remains well below the 140 euros recorded at the start of the war in Ukraine. But then, what explains this incredible increase in prices at the pump? We can cite the slight increase in oil prices, but above all the government taxesas well as the margins of the distributors, which would be too high according to certain associations of defense of the drivers.

A capped price

However, some fuel distributors have decided to make an effort to help motorists. This is for example the case of Leclerc and Casino supermarkets, but also of TotalEnergies. The oil group has indeed decided to cap the price of gasoline and diesel in all its service stations, everywhere in France. Thus, the liter cannot climb beyond the 1.99 euro mark, except in certain situations, in particular in the event of a fuel shortage. But we wondered until when this measure would be in place. Well, the company is finally giving us an answer, and that’s very good news!

Until the end of the year

Indeed, the tricolor company, which had already offered several discounts on the price of the liter last year, announced in a press release that the fuel would thus be capped until the end of the year. The group states thattoday, 2,200 service stations out of 3,400 already benefit from this measure since the price of at least one fuel is there currently capped at €1.99/litre“. Good news for motorists everywhere on the territory!
