Polestar cars will soon be self-driving

Until a few decades ago, we expected to see over the next few years cars capable of ride alone, without any driver intervention. It was believed that it would be possible for everyone to go to their place of work while sleeping or reading the newspaper. Admittedly, some cars already offer very advanced technologies, theoretically making it possible to do so. But the regulations often prevent it, confining autonomous driving to fast lanes in a straight line. Today, few brands are however equipped with this functionality, but we can cite Tesla or Mercedes in particular.

At BMW it is also possible to drive without hands up to 130 km/h on the 7 and 5 Series. But now another brand should soon offer this innovative technology on its cars. This is Polestar, which is still not sold in France despite the end of the conflict with Citroën relating to the logo of the Swedish firm. The latter recently announced that its next Polestar 4 sedan will soon be equipped with the level 3 autonomous driving. Thus, and like the Mercedes EQS, it will be possible to take to the road without touching the steering wheel and to be guided by the vehicle, under certain conditions.

However, it will still be necessary to show a little patience, because this technology will not be offered to us immediately. Indeed, it is first the customers in China who will be able to test this technology, which will then be declined in Europe a little later. At the moment we do not yet know the details of this functionality, but no doubt that it will approach that of Mercedes and will probably use a LiDAR sensor. To be continued !
