The Honda Civic returns to order in France, but its prices explode

Economic turmoil and supply challenges recently forced Honda to pause production and sales of its iconic model, the Civic. Launched in July 2022, this model has suffered the consequences of the worldwide shortage of parts and the resulting logistical concerns.

In the wake of this supply crisis, Honda was forced to deploy a strategy to restore production of the Civic. A quest for new sources of supply, more stable but also more expensive, was undertaken. This was intended to ensure a more reliable flow of parts while avoiding future disruptions.

Sharp rise in frontage prices

Thus, the Honda Civic has made a welcome return to the brand’s catalog, with a more complete range. Offered in a 184 horsepower hybrid engine, dubbed e:HEV, it is available in three trim levels: Executive, Sport and Advance.

However, the supply crisis had an impact on prices. Last July, the Civic was marketed at respective prices of 32,400 euros, 33,700 euros and 37,100 euros. However, these figures are no longer comparable to the current reality. Prices have risen significantly, with starting amounts set at 39,220 euros for the Executive model, 40,520 euros for the Sport version and 43,920 euros for the Advance. A variation that widens the gap up to 6,820 euros compared to previous rates.

More “digestible” rental offers

Recognizing the impact of these price adjustments, Honda is seeking to attract customers through more attractive financing offers. For example, the Civic Executive is now offered at a monthly rate of 399 eurostogether with a first rent of 5,960 euros for a period of 36 months and a mileage of 30,000 km.

For the current year, Honda aims to sell 2,000 units of the Civic in France, and this figure should climb to 2,500 units for the following year.
