A unique paint job for this custom Porsche Taycan

The Porsche Sonderwunsch program has produced a one-of-a-kind example of the Taycan Turbo S, with the most intricate paint job Porsche has ever produced.

Ding Yi is a contemporary Chinese artist, who has drawn only one motif for more than 30 years: crosses. Since the summer of 2022, he has worked in collaboration with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur to realize his single copy from Porsche Taycan Turbo Swhose interior and exterior are adorned with details inspired by one of his paintings.

“What Ding Yi asked us was the most complex painting ever by Porsche”said Alexander Fabig, Vice President Individualization and Classics at Porsche: “Perfect reproduction of Ding Yi’s image on the body sections took much longer than the painting process of a production car. »

Porsche Taycan Turbo S: a unique achievement

The programs Porsche special request (custom made) allows customers of the German manufacturer to make a completely personalized car. Ding Yi wanted to create a true work of art on wheelswith this Taycan Turbo S whose base has been painted in “Olympic Blue” (914Olympblue).

Of the details of his painting “Appearance of Crosses 2022-2” adorns the bonnet, rear spoiler and exterior mirror caps: each color of these designs has been painted separately by hand, then two coats of varnish have been added.

A fully personalized interior

These details are also found inside, and adorn the trim of the front and rear doors, the dashboard or the trim of the cup holders. To produce these elements, Porsche called upon a special screen printing technique, to preserve colors despite differences in materials. This unique realization gives the driver the feeling of being seated in the middle of the work of art, which “invites contemplation of the universe and its galaxies”.

For Ding Yi, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S is the most impressive car of the early days of electromobility: the artist announced that he would drive his unique new Porsche Taycan to his home in Shanghai.
