Two out of three

A few days ago, AFP announced that ” the Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire pledged on Thursday August 24 in Alex (Haute-Savoie) to “tackle the problem of recovering fines”, the State only collecting, according to him, a third the amount of fixed fines imposed“. Indeed, it is said that “the State would collect only one third of the sums which are due to it”. In other words, only one in three motorists would really pay his fines, which is simply very little. But is it really the reality? It seems that is not quite the case…

In reality, this figure would be a little simplified. Indeed, the vast majority of PV for traffic offenses would be paid on time, in particular those for speeding tickets sent by speed cameras. In fact, it depends on the type of offence, and it is especially those related to the consumption of narcotics that are most often “forgotten”. It is therefore advisable not to generalize, while the vast majority of motorists do pay their fines when necessary.
