The Japanese manufacturer has announced the arrival of a new model, which will be presented on September 6, 2023: it should be an SUV version of the Toyota Century.
In recent months, rumors have been rife in the Japanese media: the Toyota Century, a high-end limousine that is already in its third generation, is expected to be renewed this year. After bringing its Toyota Crown sedan up to date, the Japanese firm is about to bring a brand new version of the Toyota Century to the fore.
Toyota has indeed released a first photo teaser of its future model, which we discover in the dark, with a world premiere presentation date: the September 6, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. (Japanese time, i.e. 6:30 a.m. in France). A revelation that will be to be discovered live, then in replay from this date, on the video below:
On this first teaser photo, we discover the left side of the car, with a hand equipped with a white glove which is about to open the rear door: the model is indeed aimed at high-end customers, who usually travels with a driver. Difficult to know more at the moment, but the lines of the future model seem imposing, with chrome inserts, marked wheel arches and strong plastic protections integrated at the bottom of the doors. At the same time, we discover the light signature of the rear LED lights, in the shape of a stick.
According to the latest rumors, this future variation of the Toyota Century should take the form of a high-end SUV, like its rival Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Indeed, in June 2023, on the occasion of the presentation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire, the Japanese firm announced the expansion of the Century range, without saying more.
According to a representative of the brand, the Toyota Century range is about to evolve this year, with a new proposal that promises to be impressive. The new model should adopt the platform TNGA-Kwhich equips the Toyota Camry, Highlander, Alphard and Vellfire or even Lexus LM, and offers the best in comfort, luxury and technology.
While the current Toyota Century is equipped with a V8 gasoline engine, and its previous generation even had a luxurious V12, this hypothetical Century SUV should offer a gasoline plug-in hybrid engine, to better comply with the electrification strategy of the Japanese parent company. It would also allow him to export to other markets, such as Europe or North Americawhile the current Century sedan is mainly aimed at the Japanese domestic market.
