Which fuels increased the most during the summer?

If you have the regular opportunity to go to a gas station, you have probably noticed how much the price of fuel has fluctuated during this summer. And this is unfortunately not an impression, since gasoline and diesel prices rose sharply between July and August, to the chagrin of motorists. And especially those who have taken the road for the holidays and whose budget has been weighed down by this soaring prices. Especially since the decline is unfortunately not for now, while the price of oil also continues to climb due to the drop in production.

not all equal

Overall, all fuels suffered from strong inflation, even those that are usually less expensive such as E85 and LPG. But be careful because not all are housed in the same boat, quite the contrary. And some have increased much more than others during the summer period. But which ones? Well, without much surprise, it is diesel that has undergone the greatest increase this summer. Indeed, during the first week of July, the liter was posted on average at “only” 1.67 euro. But now, in the last week of August, it takes no less than 1.83 euros per litre. That is a surge of 17 cents in two months.

And gasoline?

On the 95 lead-free side, it’s not much rosier. Indeed, the latter also rose by 13 cents over the same period. But what is the reason for this outbreak? First of all, the drop in production, associated with the increase in demand due to school holidays. But we must not forget the taxes, which represent 60% of the liters and which are obviously indexed to the price of the latter. Not to mention the war in Ukraine which continues to affect our portfolio.
